CarWatch · last updated 30 August 2026
CarWatch watches publicly accessible vehicle listings from Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist that match a search you set up, and tells you when one appears. This policy describes exactly what it stores to do that.
CarWatch creates an anonymous account for you on first use. It has no name, no email address and no password — it exists only so your scanners belong to something. You are never asked to identify yourself, and we cannot identify you from it.
If you later choose to sign in with an email address, that address is stored by our authentication provider so you can access the same scanners from another device.
| Your search settings | The city you chose, the makes and models you selected, your price range, search radius, and how often to check. |
|---|---|
| Notification token | An anonymous device token issued by Apple or Google via Expo, used only to deliver alerts. It is not linked to your name or email and cannot be used to identify you elsewhere. |
| Quiet hours | Times you have asked not to be alerted, and your time zone, so those hours are calculated correctly. |
| Matched listings | Which public listings matched your scanners, so your feed can show them. |
| Product analytics | App screens and product events, such as onboarding progress and scanner creation, plus technical app and device information. We do not send typed vehicle filters, listing contents, notification tokens, or session recordings to analytics. |
CarWatch displays vehicle listing data sourced from publicly accessible Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist postings. We do not require you to log in to either source, and we do not send your searches, identity, or other account data to Meta or Craigslist. Each listing retains source attribution and links to the original posting. CarWatch is independent of, and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Inc., or Craigslist.
Listing content belongs to the people who posted it. If you are a seller and want a listing removed from CarWatch, email us and we will remove it.
| Supabase | Database and authentication. Hosted in the United States. |
|---|---|
| Railway | Runs the service that checks Marketplace and sends alerts. |
| Expo | Delivers push notifications to your device. |
| RevenueCat | Processes subscription status and purchase receipts for CarWatch. It receives the anonymous account identifier we provide and purchase status; it does not receive your card details. |
| PostHog | Product analytics hosted in the United States. It receives app screens and product events, technical app and device information, and an anonymous or account identifier. We configure it not to receive typed vehicle filters, listing contents, notification tokens, or session recordings. |
| AppsFlyer | Advertising attribution. It receives app, device, network, and campaign-attribution data, and the advertising identifier only when iOS tracking permission allows it. We do not send scanner settings, listing contents, notification tokens, or account identifiers to AppsFlyer. |
| Cloudflare | Serves this website. |
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or give it to anyone beyond the processors above.
Search settings and matches are kept while your scanners exist. Delete a scanner and its matches go with it. Delete your account — Settings → Account → Delete account in the app — and we remove the account, scanners, matches, notification tokens, and quiet-hours settings. Purchase records are handled by Apple or Google and RevenueCat as required to administer your subscription and comply with legal obligations.
Listing data collected from the supported marketplaces is kept to price cars accurately, and is not linked to any individual user.
CarWatch is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
You can see everything stored about you in the app, change it there, or delete it there. If you would prefer we did it for you, or want a copy of your data, email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the app will tell you before the change takes effect.
